i chose green van lines because the ads made it sound like even though they sub contracted out their movers used biodiesel trucks, wore organic cotton work clothes and the boxes were made from recycled products. their orignial quote was not far off from others. the movers came earlier than planned and late in the day, there was nothing 'green' about their truck, their clothes or their boxies. they forgot to pack one entire cabinet and charged me almost 2000 more than the original quote. they packed my metal cooking utensils in multiple layers of wrapping paper, but packed an expensive mirrored lamp unwrapped in a box surrounded by books. needless to say, the lampshade broke. because the standard insurance is .60/pound i have not even begun to make a claim, though it was their incompetence at packing the lamp - not even in it's own lamp box - that caused it to break, not just ordinary shipping damage. the movers came at 5pm and stayed until it was dark, the lateness of their arrival made it very stressful and things were packed in a hurry. because of the additional cost, i had to ship 2 boxes myself as well as buy a car carrier to carry things on my car for the 3000 mile drive. i would never use them again and would not recommend anyone else use them.
