Moving is such a hassle, but honestly, the easiest part turned out to be Moving Day.
I packed up my tiny apartment for three weeks (I have a lot of stuff), I called about twelve movers for quotes, spent hours of my life on the phone detailing every piece of furniture I owned, and got a wide range of prices and fees and availability.
Great American fell on the high end of the quote spectrum, but they were so easy to talk to on the phone. And they emphasized the fact that there are no hidden fees...it is literally a flat rate. You won't be charged if the movers get a ticket the day of moving. They will loan you wardrobe boxes the day of your move. They have insurance, if that is something your building requires (as mine did).
I received a copy of the quote by e-mail, so I could double-check it, which I appreciated. And I was able to electronically sign it to set-up the move.
I received two confirmation calls about my move. The day of the move, my movers were not just on time...they were early. And because I was such a great packer, I was fully ready for them. Great American was efficient, fast, and very professional. I was so nervous that something would go wrong, that the movers wouldn't show up, or they'd be late, or they'd break something, or any number of other things that could go wrong...and the move was just so easy. They were in and out in 3 hours (I moved from Brooklyn to D.C), and nothing was broken! I was thrilled with the move...unpacking is another story.
I would absolutely use Great American again!
