A Horrible Experience

Our quote for this cross-country move was $980.00; but, as you can see, we were charged an additional $500.00. If the truck driver who picked our things up had his way, the bill would have been anadditional $1000.00. You see, he arbitrarily decided how many cubic feet of belongings we had, and he said we had a full bedroom set and full living room set. Well, we had a queen size mattress and a leather lounge (which is about the size of a loveseat). That was it for furniture - everything else was packet in about 30 boxes, none of which weighed more than 40 pounds. So, in short, we were scammed big time!!!!! The goods were taken from MA to NJ, and we were told they left NJ on June 12, and would be in LA no later than June 20. On June 20, the driver was still Louisiana!!! Allegedly, his truck broke down twice, costing him 4 days worth of repairs. He said he would not get to California until Thursday at the earliest, as he had to go to Phoenix first. When he finally arrived, boxes were dented as if they had been thrown around, items were damaged, and the driver was terribly rude to my wife. Our son moved to California, and we went out to help him get situated. We were forced to change our flights, which cost us, and the whole experience was terrible. The only good thing I can say is that Nathan G., the relocation agent, was great. He was very informative, he was keeping in touch with the late driver, and he was trying to get things resolved. However, that says nothing for the driver. Nathan is in NJ, the driver is on the road, and we were essentially at his mercy. If Nathan can promise you a good driver who has good equipment, not a broken down, old moving truck, then work with him. If he can't guarantee you a good driver and great equipment, as the web site says they use, then STAY AWAY!!!
