While calling around for estimates, I made it clear that I required a guaranteed delivery date of September 1st. I chose to use Great American because the sales rep, Glen, said they could delivery on September 1st, and he seemed very professional and personable. When the initial quote I received didn't specifically say the delivery date was guaranteed, I emailed Glen and asked him to put it in writing to me XXXwhich he did, in an email. He further explained that since he listed on the Binding Moving Estimate the First Available Delivery as "9/01/12 to 9/01/12, I was assured delivery on that date. We were called to accept delivery on August 5th, but told the driver delivery was supposed to be on September 1st, and again confirmed the date with Glen and recieved an additonal email from him on August 6th guaranteeing the September 1st delivery. No one showed up on September 1st, nor did anyone bother to call or return my calls. When I finally was able to get the driver on the phone, he told me the company told him to deliver on Sunday the 2nd. He didn't show up on Sunday either, or Monday, and told me on the phone he didn't know what the company wanted him to do. No one from the office ever returned my calls. On Tuesday I was able to get Tony in the dispatch office to answer the phone and was told they would deliver on Tuesday afternoon. I explained they needed to come as early as possible due to the elevator schedule at the building or we wouldn't be able to accept delivery, and asked for a phone number to call after hours if we had problems with the delivery again. Tony refused to give me any other number other than the general office number but said he would listen to messages at some point in the evening. When I pointed out that no one was available or listening to messages over the weekend, and they had guaranteed delivery on the 1st, he basically lost his temper. He denied the guaranteed delivery date, and when I mentioned the emails Glen had sent with a promised delivery date claimed I had altered the emails and said he didn't have time to read my emails to him. He then threatened me saying that if I didnt accept delivery tonight they would charge me storage and redelivery fees, and basically hung up on me. The driver arrived at about 8 pm. The condition of the items was deplorable. One of the sofa legs was knocked off, the cushions were ripped and muddy. The box springs was banged up and had holes. The top was falling off a nightstand. The desk was chipped. Everything looked like it had been really banged up. The driver, Ramon, tried his best to help put things together and in place - but he was on his own without help. I think the problem with this company is that they have deplorable management, but the drivers are really trying to do their best without any support from the company. The irony is that I have other moving jobs I need to be taken care of coming up XXXBUT THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. Price wasn't my only consideration - rather fairness and service. This company does not provide either.
