I went on Google and searched for long distance movers. I clicked onto one of the listings which I cant remember what website it was. But I put my information into the website and right away I had received a million emails. I was surprised on how many company where actually trying to contact me. So over a coarse of two days I must of got at least 50 phone calls. This was the worst part of the experience moving. I believe it was my second or third quote when I got into contact with ben at forward van lines. Ben was really helpful and understanding of what my situation ways. I was moving because my mother became ill and needed me to be in Bend Oregon to help her. So I spoke with ben for about a good half hour. He told me that once we went over the furniture list that he would guarantee me a flat rate price. Which I found odd because all the other estimates where based on weight. Ben gave me a flat rate price of $3134 and told me that delivery can take up to 21 days from FL to OR. Which was way to long for me not to be with out my furniture. So we got off the phone and he sent me the estimate. After we got off the phone I had gotten 3 other estimates. Forward Van lines was not the cheapest quote that I received and it wasn't the most expensive one. But after I went online and did my research on all the companies that gave me quotes. Out of five estimates I received, 3 of them where horrible companies. Which left me with forward van lines and father and son. The only thing was that father and son was about 500 dollars more and gave me the runaround when I asked them about delivery. So I contacted Ben again and I went ahead and booked the move. We agreed a pick up for the 13th of July from 9-10 am. A couple days before the move I got a call from dispatch and they confirmed my pick-up and transferred me back to ben. We went over the inventory list again just to make sure we had everything on the estimate. After I was done packing everything I had about 10 boxes more then what I was anticipating so I told ben this and he revised the estimate. He told me that the price would now be $3257, which was fine with me.
On the day of the move they showed up at about 9:30. The foreman went over the estimate and said there was nothing different from the estimate and what was actually in my home. They took about 8 hours to finish the job. The crew worked liked machines. I was surprised how long it actually took to do everything. its like they say you never know how much stuff you have until its all said and done.
I flew out to Oregon the next day. The dispatched called me a few days after the pickup and gave me the update on the delivery he told me that it would be in Oregon the weekend of the 27th. They showed up on that Thursday which was 1 day early. But they called me the day before so I had enough time to get everything ready for the movers.
The delivery for the most part went fine a couple boxes were damaged but nothing serious. The delivery went much faster than the pickup. They were in and out in about 4 hours. . The crew and Robert the driver was very pleasant and worked really hard. I herd so many horror stories about people moving across the country and actually had a bad experience myself. I hope this is the last time I move but Forward van lines was the best experience I had moving and I would recommend them to anyone.
