We contracted with FlatRate movers to move our stuff from California to Texas. The pick-up was per the schedule. However all the problems started in the Delivery.
The delivery was 3 days late. Also the delivery was done by the third party truck operator, who was a jerk. Initially he asked for more money for the delivery under the pretense that there was a more walking distance then the distance mentioned in the contract. We tried to sort that out with him, but he kept increasing the price. Ultimately he told us that he would dump all the stuff on the main road and leave. We were so mad we told him that we need to contact Flatrate to sort this out. While we were calling Flatrate, he called the police on us. Fortunately, police understood our problem and asked him to sort the problem out with us. Imagine moving into a new neighborhood and the first impression that you give out having police at your doorsteps.
While taking the delivery, we noticed that the hardware for the queen bed was missing and so the movers did not assemble the bed (which was requirement per the contract).
Later we called the company to file the claim for late delivery and missing hardware. After considerable delay, and repeated calls from us, the company offered us $60 for the bed (originally worth much much more). We were left with a completely useless bed, no assembly done (which was required per contract) and then company offering $180 ($60 + $120 Late Charge). And to top it all, we had police at our doorsteps.
So goodluck with this company.
