DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I contacted First Call Movers months ago and was set to move in August. I called back June 17th to adjust my move date for June 29-30. June 17th I paid the deposit of $552.75 to confirm my move for the items and on those dates. I received a phone call the week of my expected move to check that there weren't any changes, and I said there will be patio furniture included in the move. I called on the evening of Friday June 28th to confirm a time for the carrier to arrive and was given no information. I called six times on Saturday June 29th to request information about my move, and was told, "They could be there any minute XXXany second," so I waited in a hot, boxed up apartment all day Saturday to no avail. I called again Sunday June 30th four times to receive information, and was told by Julia (the ONLY respectful, professional person I've spoken to this entire time) that they hadn't booked a carrier yet, despite my having paid a deposit 13 days prior to my move-in date, so again, I waited in vain for a carrier to be confirmed and arrive. Monday July 1st, my mother spoke to Mike (because I was far too exhausted to speak to this unbelievably unprofessional company), who was by far the least professional person, who insisted on putting this error on me for not calling (which my records show is not true because I did call and ask) and requesting information about the carrier. I was supposed to be moved out on July 1st, but since my belongings were still in the apartment, I was at risk of having to pay rent for July XXXan additional $500 XXXfor the gross oversight and negligence caused by First Call Movers.
I submitted a request for refund and cancellation to Lori, waited the stated 24 hours for a reply, and upon checking my bank account to see I was still not refunded $552.75, I called to merely check the status. Instead of being forwarded to Lori XXXwho is supposed to deal with these issues XXXwas sent to a vicious man in "customer service" who continuously interrupted me, yelled at me, then when I asked to just be transferred to someone who can connect me with Lori (because for some reason he doesn't have her phone number, despite insisting she's "the only and the best at this job"), HE HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor, who, when I began explaining XXXin a calm, rational tone (I'm a teacher; I master calm tones in frustrating situations) XXXthe situation, she interrupted and said with horrific attitude, "ma'am, before you start venting, just give me your job number." In their system, I'm still pending for carrier assignment, even though over 24 hours ago, I cancelled this job.
Their voice message when you call espouses professional, hassle-free service, and this was anything but professional and hassle-free. I've spent nearly 72 collective hours on hold, transferring, waiting, and stressing over whether or not I'll be able to move out of my apartment. Never in my life have I been confronted with this degree of hostility and manipulation. First Call Movers needs to be shut down, because the very thought that they are allowed in business and permitted to take money from people is deplorable. I will post reviews wherever I can to ensure that no one goes through the headache and nausea that I have when dealing with this poor excuse for a company.
