The Good:
- My nice items (TV, Chairs + Mattresses) arrived in good shape.
- I had a lot more stuff than I realized. They accommodated me and moved my extra stuff and charged me the same rate for it.
The Bad:
- Movers arrived 1 hour 40 minutes after requested time. No apology or excuse offered.
- Movers nickel and dime you.
Was charged $32 for gas + tolls each way. Was shown only $25 dollars in receipts and was told the rest is for mileage.
Guy on phone said that blankets to cover my bed and tv would be free. No blankets were brought. Instead, they used their packing materials and charged me for them per item. Included were "7 rolls of tape." All my boxes were already packed. How does anyone use 7 rolls of tape?
They took my 5 extra moving boxes to help me cover my stuff and then charged me for them. When I said them why they are charging me for my own boxes, they claimed to have only taken 1. On my floor was 1 box and on their car was 4 more. (My boxes were home depot & u-haul brand which they don't use)
- Movers did not have any moving tools. No knife, no tape measure, no screwdrivers. Had to borrow mine. Couldn't reassemble bed because my screwdriver was left in my old apartment
- Broke my dresser, which is IKEA furniture. No apology was offered. Instead he let me know how cheap my dresser was and that particle wood is not covered under the agreement.
- Movers lost screws for my bed. Had to go to IKEA to get replacements.
- Cost is per square foot. Mover had no tape measure so he guessed 625 sq ft + 25 sq ft for extras even though the van was only 950 sq ft and I was telling him it was only half full. I protested and then had to find my super to get a tape measure. Final measure was 515 sq ft + 25 sq ft for extras, which measured to very outer edge of my stuff.
- Movers think its funny to nickel and dime. When my brother asked if they were going to reassemble my bed or just leave it there, he said it's an extra $100. Then he says he was joking and laughs in my face saying, "Look, his head popped right up."
- Movers left rolls of tape in my old apartment and wrapper paper used to cover my tv in my new apartment.
Very unpleasant experience. $1805 for a move into a 350 sq ft studio is $500 more than my move up which included some help packing. There were fewer scratches on my stuff this time around but for the difference I could have just bought new furniture.
