We had heavy and expensive furniture so the other companies who charged by the lb were very expensive. we decided to use EZ movers because they quoted us by the cubic foot which was cheaper. They did take up the quote with extra packing fees etc as every one here states. In addition, we had the following problems.
A) The movers who picked up our load were unprofessional and knocked our furniture into walls, didn't know how to appropriately wrap our furniture to protect it, and were not accomodating at all in terms of schedule (we were loading till 1AM on the pickup day).
B) This company does not keep to the contracted schedule which causes delays that end up causing the customer much loss in time and possibly money and future customers need to be aware of this. They guaranteed us 15 business days and it took a full month for our furniture to make it from the midwest to the west coast (they first take everything to IL and wait in storage until the next truck that's going to be heading your way which could take over a month).
C) when assessing claims in regard to furniture damage (and we had a lot of damage), the company "low balls" the estimate weight of the damaged goods significantly. This should be noted by customers who like us choose to go with this company because they charge by the cubic foot rather than weight. It's funny how other companies quoted us a much higher wt for the same furniture that they clami weighs 150lbs. Our damaged furniture cost over 5,000 dollars and wt of over 500 lbs at least. They reimburse 0.60/lb and give you 30 days to sign a contract to get a few dollars for your stuff and if you challenge their wt, that just eats up your 30 days and they say "case is closed."
Don't use this company and if you do, make sure you take out extra insurance on it. We are very unhappy.
