When we first started looking for quotes, E-Z movers was very proactive about intiating contact, and we soon figured out the reason. Not having done any self moving before, It was tricky to get the Quotes finalized. We had to really work hard to get the quotes close to our requirements. When I asked, we always got response as the company is very flexible with the price and if we come under the provide weight/volume, the rates would be adjusted accordingly. However, by trying several time and talking to different associates we found the initial quotes is more or less fixed. I am sure if you increase the volume/weight, they will increase the cost. The company was not very honest and upfront about all the hidden agenda's. Once we paid for the initial deposit of 25%, we were told that we have to pay the 50% at pick up and 25% at drop off. It was never mentioned that the company's policy is to accept Check/Money Order upon delivery and we have to pay upfront before the truck would unload the stuff. We were told that our goods would be delivered with in a week. However, it arrived on 15th day. When the truck came to pick up the pick-up personel told us that they would take extra to package the sofa and couch so that it doesn't get damaged and also they showed us company document to pay them tip. We were unhappy but we paid as we din't want them to deliver our stuff in good condition. The insurance provided by them wouldn't have been enough to cover the damage. Our guess was correct and we found several boxes opened and torn apart. We were told that we should expect the truck to come anytime between 8:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. I provided the company a correct address and ensure they don't get confused between east and west. However, truck guy called and asked for direction as he was lost. The driver always used a very rough tone. told me to come home immediatly or he will leave. He also wanted me to pay him only in CASH or "Postal" Money Order. However after calling the office, I was told its ok to pay via any kind of money order. When I tried to explain the drivers behavior, the associate (Tony) as always responded rudly and order me to rush home immediatly and not tell him anything.
Company had hired a local worker to help with the unloading who eas extremly nice, However driver was helping with the unloading and was droping stuff every where in the house. Upon requesting him to give us the tag no so that we can count, he said it is not his JOB. I was not sure, How can ensure the tallly with the list. We got any initial quote of $1990 and end of paying approx $2400.
I would not recommend using E-Z movers and it would be better to pay an additional $100-$200, but atleast you can plan and accept a dependable service.
I would think moving company should be the last of your worries when you are relocating.
