My family and I decided to move back to the east coast, back to long-island. We've moved before so I remember the hassles of the moving process when we came to Texas. I remember receiving overcharges on the spot last time and I want people to read this so they know why. All the company reviews I read said the same thing that happened to me "I was charged more on the day of the move". I figured this isn't just anyone company. When I spoke to my rep with direct van-lines....he was Dan, he told those overcharges I read and experienced about was a issue all companies sort of get a bad rap with. Like always packing material. He told me everything needed to be accurate...like making sure all items are taken into account and when I finalized my box count, to notify Dan right away. I packed all my boxes, wrapped my sofas and mattresses with covers, paid them to handle my tv's and fragile items and they packed the furniture since that's apart of the service. I did not receive ANY overcharges. The price I was quoted was what I paid for. Now I was waiting to get my shit to New york. I called after 5 days 3 times and no one answered so I left a voice-mail. I got a missed call few hours later and Dan left me a voice-mail. He figured I was calling about delivery and said to check in two days if I don't hear from the driver and told me the lines are going crazy but they saw that I called and just couldn't answer at the time. The driver called me the next day and said he will be there for delivery in 2 days. They came, unloaded and unpacked my furniture, placed everything where I told them to. The only damage was a gash on my sofa cover but it didn't cut the sofa, just the protective wrapping. The leftover 30% balance was $1,005, I gave them a check and $150 tip to each member of the crew. They did a good job, but honestly, I think everything was good because I made sure to find out all I needed to do on my end to avoid what happened last time to me and what to avoid what I'm reading on the web from all these companies. I recommend direct van lines and also for everyone to do their homework no matter who they choose !!
