The contracting process was straightforward. What was not straighforward was the pricing and the delivery commitment.
1. Pricing -- orginal estimate was for $985 for 1500 lbs. As I was moving just one bedroom (mattress, boxspring, chest of drawers--no bed) one cofee table, a light couch and a few boxes it seemed the right quote. As soon as the movers arrived they told me it was 2000lbs and that it would cost $1400. I never received any information on what the actual weight was as they were supposed to weigh it at the storage facility.
2. Delivery -- the pick up was a full week before and my things went into storage. Their commitment was to deliver on Satuday, Sep 2nd. In fact the contract refers to potential delays in "hours," at worst. They delivered Tuesday, Sat 5th. No apologies by the drivers who had no role in the process.
3. Payment -- the drivers wanted me to sign the credit card charge for the balance before they would unload. I was supposed to see if all my things were there or damaged.
I know moving companies do not have great reputations but these guys rate at the bottom of any list that I can imagine.
