DO NOTUSE THIS COMPANY. YOU'LL BE SORRY. I WAS LEFT MOVING MY OWN BOXES OUT OF THE TRUCK. UNPROFESSIONAL CREW. TRIED TO OVERCHARGE ME WHERE EVER THEY COULD, FOR PACKING MATERIAL ETC. WHEN I REFUSED THEY BECAME ANGRY. MY THINGS WERE DAMAGED AND I HAD TO RETURN THE NEXT DAY WITH ANOTHER REAL MOVER TO FINISH. THIS WAS A SIMPLE JOB (NOT MORE THAN 3 HOURS) TO MOVE SOME FURNITURE FROM A STORAGE UNIT TO A SMALL APARTMENT ONLY 1.4 MILES AWAY. I WAS GUARANTEED A TIME OF 8:00AM AND THEY ARRIVED AT 4:00. AS SOON AS THEY GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK THEIR FIRST WORDS TO ME WERE WE CAN WORK FASTER IF YOU PAY US 90.00 AN HOUR. (AS OPPOSED TO TAKING THEIR TIME OR WHAT) WHEN I SAID NO THANK YOU, THEY BECAME IRRITATED. SEE FULL LETTER BELOW.
COPY OF FULL LETTER TO CONTINENTAL EXPRESS: Michael, I was very disappointed with my move on Saturday March 29th. I went with your company because I thought it was a very reasonable price and your company seemed trustworthy and honest. I have never been so rudely and inappropriately treated by what your company calls "professional movers" in my life. The movers that showed up, which by the way you had said the move would most likely be first thing in the morning, (another reason I wanted to use your company). Showed up at 4:00 in the afternoon. While I've moved a few times over the years, I know that sometimes these things happen and was not alarmed and was more concerned with getting the job done before the storage unit closed for the day.
Your guy got out of the truck and first thing he said was, we can move faster for $90.00 an hour. (as opposed to what, they are not going to move fast otherwise)?? I told him no thank you, and he seemed a little disturbed by that.
Then he proceeded to go over the contract, now remember....I'm on a time line, he is late and he still wants to go over the contract, telling me to sign in all these places without reading anything. I asked if he could please start the move while I read the contract. I felt like he was wasting time on purpose. He was irritated again.
I was moving from a storage unit (not all things going) to a small studio apartment. Most professional movers, would move things out of the unit, so I could find my furniture that I need to take, these guys chose to squeeze in and try and remove the furniture I needed and damaged and scratched it along the way. They didn't even have any kind of lift or ramp going up to their truck to load easily which took longer. This was not very efficient, and when they couldn't figure how to get something out they started arguing with each other, this went on non-stop. The mover pulled out the TV and asked me if that went in the truck I said yes, then he will have to bubble wrap it, I asked him how much and he said 31.95, I said no thank you just wrap it with a blanket, (as I am only 2 minutes away, and he'd have to drive like a bat out of hell to do damage to it) he said he wouldn’t do it. I told him I would take responsibility for it. He said he didn't care and so I was forced to put it in my car. (Where it still is today, since it is too heavy to move) Unfortunately, at this time, I knew this was not going to be a good experience and I was now at their mercy because they had my furniture out in the street. I told them to pick up a few more items and let’s go; I'll need to get other movers to move the rest.
Your mover brings out the contract once again and said I missed a page, it is the page with the charges for packing materials, I told him I didn't sign it because no packing materials were used, he said YOU SIGN WRITE NOW!! So I wrote no packing materials used and started to initial it. He grabbed the paper away from me and said YOU CAN'T DO THAT, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING" I said excuse me, but it is perfectly legal for me to write "No packing materials used" on this form as I did not want to be charged for anything extra. I told him if he wanted to write "no charge", I would be happy to sign it. We argued for a few minutes and I started to get very uncomfortable as his anger was now escalating, I stepped back and thought this might go very bad for me and maybe I should call the police. I stepped away from him; he mumbled something and then said "I SIGNED NO CHARGE, NOW SIGN THIS!!" I asked him for a copy of this and he said YOU'LL GET IT WHEN WE'RE DONE. (I never received it as it was not part of the initial contract and there were no carbons attached I would like to have a copy of this to make sure he didn't charge me after all.
When we got to my home 3 minutes later, the angry one walked in to my unit and starting working on the contract again as the other mover and I started to unload the truck. We moved the majority of the boxes into the apartment. He came out to ask me for my credit card. I told him to use my credit card on file, (as you told me, at the end of the job, I can use my credit card that I gave you initially to bill) He said he didn't have the information, so I went to my car to get my wallet. This whole ordeal took him 30 minutes, while the other mover and I sat and waited for him to come out of the apartment to move the few pieces of furniture I was able to get from storage but was too heavy to lift for me. So now I have no bed to sleep on or furniture to sit on. Thanks!!
I could go on and on, but why, you just should know that I will not be recommending your company to anyone and will be doing a write up on line as well as contacting the Better Business Bureau. I trusted you to send qualified movers and experienced movers; these guys had no clue what they were doing. They could barely lift anything or speak English and argued with each other the entire time.
I am now having to find a reputable mover to finish the job and come and get the furniture out of my unit.
