I contracted with American Van Lines for a move from Texas to Florida. This move was contracted out to Colonial Van Lines who picked up our belongings and delivered them in Florida. They picked up our belongings on time, and then placed them in storage in Ft. Worth Texas until we could move into a house. We requested delivery the last week in March since we closed on our house, but out goods were not delivered until April 15th.
We had packed numerous boxes and placed them in our dining room. We told the movers that these boxes were the only boxes to be loaded. My wife had placed a box in the kitchen clearly labeled "Do Not Take." The box disappeared and was not delivered with our belongings. It contained jewelry and my grandmothers wedding ring. My wife had intended to place the box in our car for the move. One of my character faults is that I tend to trust people. In this case that was a mistake.
Upon their late delivery, we noticed items missing as we unpacked. A mat for the door, a toaster oven, and an autographed picture of a celebrity that had monetary and sentimental value.
Finally, they delivered seven boxes that do not belong to us. There is no identification on the boxes, and I have called Colonial three times to arrange pickup. They called me back once when I was out of town. I told them to contact my wife to arrange pickup, but they did not follow through.
Personally, I am disgusted with the service I received. I wish I had read the online reviews before contracting for our move. If I had I never would have contracted with this company.
