Colonial Van Lines is nothing more than a moving broker, and a dishonest one at that. All they do is give you an estimate and then find a mover who will move your stuff, it doesn't appear they have any process for vetting their associations just who can do it when you need it. They charge you a percentage as a down payment then the rest is left up to whatever the moving compa that picks you stuff up to charge what they want. My weight came in way over the estimate, but I had three different people look at my load and all said there was no ways my stuff weighed what I was being charged. You as the customer have no way of knowing how your stuff is weighed. The truck could be mostly empty of fuel beforehand and completely full after which can greatly affect the weights. I had someone to meet the truck at delivery for me with amount of money was expecting to pay, because after numerous calls throughout the day to get final weight and charges so I got the right and my representative didn't have sufficient funds as it was after banks were closed for the day had to scramble to find funds, because movers don't unload until after they are paid. Overall this company.is a big scam
