This company gave me a pick up date with 48 hour window that they "spoke with dispatch" and "guaranteed" a pick up on those two dates to get me to agree to use them. Then when the moving day came the sales person (who in all honesty was very pleasant) did not know why the moving company did not have a truck even scheduled to pick up my stuff. Spoke with CS and they said that pick up could be scheduled at any point in the day. So they would be in touch with me throughout the day. Didn't hear back from them, so I had to contact them every few hours. This went on for 48 hours no one had answers for me besides "we can monitor your account and keep you updated throughout the day."
The only helpful people were the sales agent who felt guilty because I had to be out of my apartment. They even went to the extent of not answering the phone when I called (which they obviously had caller ID since when they did pick up they would state my name immediately after picking up the phone.)
Do not recommend using them at all, in fact would avoid using them. I ended up having to rent a Uhaul at the last minute (which I had to drive an hour away to pick up) and thank heavens that a mover from another company that was moving another tenant in my apartment was willing to help me move when he was off the clock.
I ended up wasting 2 days waiting for these "movers" who never showed, had no attempt by the company to do anything besides say "we can keep you updated on the status of your account". I did cancel their services and now will take 10 days to get the refund of the over $1000 dollar deposit.
There should be ways for those of us moving to be able to hold companies like this accountable and hit them where it hurts the most, their profit margin! They should have to pay for my Uhaul, my time from collecting income for the 2 days I waited around from them and for my driving time. Then lets see how willing they are to put people off because it is not a large enough margin of profit to move a 2 bedroom apartment compared to a house. I will make sure none of my friends or family ever use colonial van lines.
