I packed my entire 3400 sq ft house except for the TV. This was a large and difficult move for Certified Relocations because I needed truck loading to be completed on the busiest moving day of the year (according to the salesperson) and unloading completed the following day. Also, there were four locations to unload items, my new home being the last one.
First problem: The salesperson underestimated the needed truck volume despite receiving an inventory list from me, forcing the moving crew to strap furniture to the back (outside) of the truck.
Second problem: The salesperson didn't fix the loading date until the last minute despite knowing it from my first contact with him, causing major consternation just before the loading day.
Third problem: The two salespeople didn't coordinate well between themselves or with the dispatchers, causing confusion about the loading and unloading dates.
Fourth problem: The crews aren't trained to load or handle items properly, causing damage to some of my furniture (broken credenza leg, broken table corner, missing stationary bike foot).
Fifth problem: The crews don't recognize their own equipment, causing them to (inadvertently) take my handtruck but leave half a dozen packing blankets behind.
Positives: Certified Relocations price is very competitive and there was no extra charge for the extra unload locations. The TV and valuable furniture (antiques) were wrapped very well and suffered no damage. The foreman and his crew went the extra mile (pardon the pun) to make sure I was happy, even to the point of assembling my numerous shelving units and putting all the boxes and totes on them exactly where I wanted. They earned the maximum 10% tip as recommended by Certified Relocations.
Negatives: A crew member didn't know how to handle delicate furniture, causing a broken credenza leg. Five furniture items weren't wrapped/loaded properly, causing rubbing damage during the transport. Certified Relocations charges an excessive 6% for a credit card payment which was the only practical method of payment for a $5000+ move.
