Capital Moving Services

I chose to use capital moving services because when I first contacted them they seemed very friendly, knowledgable and claimed to have no hidden expenses. However I would have been better off to sell all my stuff and buy everything all over again once I arrived at my new location, seeing as I pretty much have to do that anyway.
Here is an overview of my moving horror story:
1. The movers showed up at the very end of the time frame given to me, so I spent all day, the day before I was about to move and had a million things to do, waiting for them. They took 4 hours to load my stuff from a 2bdrm condo. Plus they took a 30 minute break and used my bathroom about 10 times. Plus their truck broke down in our parking lot.
2. The no hidden fees ended up being:
* an extra $100 fee because I had 3 stairs
* and extra $83 if I needed to pay for visa
* my estimate was $1500, and the total was $2700
* $100 desitnation surcharge
* $130 in warehouse handling
* $15 for packing, that i didnt ask for or recieve
None of which was explained to me before I recieved the bill and required full payment to actually get my stuff back
3. I asked for 1 month storage which was free I did this because i did not have a permanent residence at my new location yet. After 2 weeks, i still did not have a place to live so I called to have that extended for another month, fully aware that this would be a very high price of $300 for storage. Instead of keeping my stuff for the extra month, they sent it event before the 1st month was up and gave me 12 hours notice of its arrival. This ment that in less than a day I had to rent a storage place, and notify them of where to deliver my goods and come up with the almost $3000 to pay for my shipment. Funny enough on the bill, they had written in that they had provided a months storage at $0. The moving company showed no empathy for me at all and stated that they could not do anythign about it since it was already on the way, and I couldnt prove who I talked to so they didnt know if I was telling the truth. Like it would have mattered if I knew the persons name or not.
4. My stuff arrives. Every peice of furniture with tape, permanent marker, and a LOT of scratches, nickes and chunks missing from it. Although the boxes were in pretty good condition and all my electroics still work. My headboard which had glass in it has a completely broken frame, huge chunks missing and a broken/missing peice of glass. However my receipt says that I have not decided to declare a value for my goods and therefore release my abilty to file a claim. None of which were decribed to me by the now seemingly useless customer service staff, or the movers who didnt speak english.
I will say that the transport truck driver was very nice. he even unloaded all my stuff when the moving crew captial moving was supposed to send did not show up. We offered to help, but he wouldnt take it. He still got a tip from us for all his hard work dispite my anger at this whole situation
This company is the worst I have ever dealt with, and I sorely regret not reaserching it first. I had only a few weeks to fully plan my move but still should have been more thorough. I guess I was nieve enough to believe I couldn't end up in such a horrible situation.
