My wife and I needed to move two rooms from Atlanta to Portland (moving to a 700 square foot condo). We got what seemed like a great quote from Budget. However, the people that showed up were from Northwest Relocation, a third party company budget subbed out the job to. I was out of town on business the day they showed up to pick up our stuff. They told my wife that she had to sign additional paperwork that was never discussed previously. They said if she didn't sign it they wouldn't move our stuff. One of those documents stated that if they lost anything or damaged anything, they were only liable for 60 cents per pound! And getting additional insurance takes 2-3 days to process, so she had no choice. But hey, it was only two rooms, right?
So what happens? The after bullying us into signing thier contract, Northwest Relocators managed to lose a large stuffed chair! It was the second biggest piece of furniture we moved, and somehow, some way, they just lost it. So now we are out a $700 chair, and all we can get is 60 cents per pound. They claimed they went through all of their other manifests and deliveries and came up empty. So now some jerk (maybe the truck driver) has my chair and I have next to nothing for it. And niether company showed any remorse. In fact, we had to keep calling them to see if they had found it!
For all I know, they steal stuff, sell it to make up for thier cheep quotes, and let the insurance companies take the minimum hit. Whatever the case, I will NEVER use Budget again, nor will I ever use Northwest Relocators. They are both either incompetent, thieves, or both. I suggest you stear clear of thier low prices becuase in this case, you will get only what you pay for.
