After reading through some of the horror stories from other persons, I certainly concur that this is a company that should be avoided at all costs, and probably should go out of business. Their customer service is non-existent. Three weeks before an anticipated move from Portland Maine to Wisconsin I completed all the necessary paperwork and was told that the "window" for the move was betwen Jun 22-25, and that I would learn the name of the actual moving company and as well as the "firm" date within a few days. After several weeks passed and still no answer, I called Budget numerous times to try and confirm these details. The only answer I received each time was that their "dispatching team" was working on it. Finally the day before the scheduled move, with still no answer I asked for a supervisor (John) who was no more help. The same answer, "we don't have an answer yet from dispatch." I asked whether I could speak to dispatch and was told they do NOT under any circumstances talk to the client. Finally, on the 22nd, (the first scheduled day of the move) I received a call from them, saying they were cancelling - no reason - other than their complete ineptitude. Either their "dispatch team" is completely useless, or they just don't care!!
And neither did their supervisor, John. In fact, after telling me he would get back to me on several occasions, he never did.
I repeat what others have said - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Fortunately they did not contract for the move, so I didn't have the other horror stories of holding our son's furnishings hostage while the moving company asked for more dollars (in cash)..
I do have good words to say about Amanda, who was always pleasant and courteous on the phone. Unfortunately they do not give their customer service staff the support they need in dealing with the public.
