I schedule the pick up with Budget Van Lines. They called back and asked to come with less then 24 hours on a day that was out side the agree scheduled pick-up dates. Then I waited all day eventually they showed up at night. Then said they under estimated and have to charge me an additional thousand dollars. When I didn't agree, they said they will do it as a favor.
Then they told me that they would have to deliver my stuff before the possible days we agreed on. When I said that was not going to be possible because the apartment I was moving into will not be ready they then told me that they will then have to charge me extra for storage days. When I said no to this then they said they will do me the favor of driving around my stuff all over the country and will eventually deliver it to me in about six months, when they have a job in the town I was moving to.
Lucky for me, one of the moving guys pull me aside and told me that he felt bad so he is going to tell me the truth. He said "you will just be charged for the move but will never get your stuff; demand that they give you all the new changes to the agreement in writing." Upon following this movers advise they told me that they do not add favors to agreements and when I insisted they off loaded my stuff in the hallway and left but kept my deposit of $621.09.
The lesson is: do not agree to a phone estimate. Only use local or nation wide companies that can send a moving agent to give you an estimate. I used McCollister's they were honest and did exactly what they said they would do and even charge me less then the Budget Van Lines Estimates.
