Budget Van Lines gives you a quote. However they must auction off that quote to other companies. It's a crap shoot of who is going to be actually moving your items. Therefore you never even have the opportunity to review the actually company who is moving you until after you've paid 1/3 of the price upfront.
I was quoted a price for 80 boxes and furniture for $2100. I sold some furniture so I had less furniture to load than I was quoted. The box level increased to 100. My items took up 12 foot on a 26 foot truck. I was given the price of $4600 after my items were loaded. They pre-charge you for about 1/3 of the original quote. So what are you going to do? They have all your items on your truck. It's like a ransom that you can't have your stuff unless you agree to the new terms.
Additionally, the movers broke tile in my laundry room. They told me they did not have insurance to cover it. They wanted me to go buy tile right then and they said they would fix it. Of course they had no tools to complete any of the repair that takes 3 days by the way due to mortar that has to dry. I contacted the company where whoever answeregd the phone tried to tell me they were not responible, etc.
To this day, I still have not been re-imbursed for the damage at the house or a broken marble top.
RUN!!!!!!!!!!!! Do not use them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
