I was doing a one way long distance move. When I initially called, they made me list all the items I was looking to move in my apartment so he could give me an estimate for the move. I made sure to list every item to assure that there would be no extra fees or pricing the day of my move. They informed me that the way that they priced the quote was based on an estimated weight, and that they tend to over weigh the estimate in order to guarantee the price. He explained to me that my move price was guaranteed and as long as I only had the items listed that the price would ABSOLUTELY not exceed the "guaranteed" price. He explained that they weigh the truck before and after pickup and that should the weight be less than what they quoted me, that I wouldn't be responsible for this amount. I remember this conversation so vividly because I questioned him on how I would know how much to pay upon delivery and he told me that I could follow them to a weighing station if I wanted to, but they would call me with the weight and the final amount. Once I spoke with the carrier who was dropping off my belongings, he informed me that I was responsible for the entire quoted amount regardless of the weight. Which made me very upset, because I called Budget back days after we originally put the quote together and I told him I had sold some things and needed to have them removed from the list and he told me not to bother because once it weighed in less I would just get that money back. That is not fair because I ended up paying for things that I had sold.
I called Budget the day before my move and spoke with the manager. I asked her if the movers would take apart my bed and wrap my mirrors etc. She said "Of course they will." When the movers arrived, they informed me it would be $200-300 dollars extra for them to wrap my mirrors even though they guaranteed me the price and the manager told me they would. The movers explained to me that blankets and tape were included but that the mirror, or anything with glass, including my tv stand and patio table would have to be bubble wrapped and boxed and that isn't included. The manager was clearly playing games with her choice of wording. "Of course they will" clearly meant at whatever cost they felt like charging. Because of the fact that they wanted to add on hundreds of dollars to wrap a table and mirror, and they refused to take my plant, and a few garbage bags I had with large items such as pillows and blankets, I had to rent an SUV and drive 6 hours to take all of the things that they wouldn't take to the destination. So not only did I have an expense of a rental SUV, but I also lost the cost of the flight because of Budget Van Line's lies.
Separately, they also told me I would have my belongings in 2 days. He told me that by "law" they were required to say 0-6 days but that for where I was going it would never take more than 2 days. So I booked a flight to meet them on the other side of the move (which as stated above had to be switched to an SUV), only to hear from the carrier that was not true either. It has been 5 days and my belongings are still not at the destination.
Do not use them ever. If you ever listen to me ever, make it now. These people are awful and are clearly they are just out to take advantage of people.
