After contracting with Budget (based on good reviews), the carrier they chose for us was Five Star Relocation (Bergen, NJ). After being late picking up our belongings (and sending too small of a truck so they had to go back – a WEEK later to get our mattresses after wanting to tape them to the outside of the first truck), it took them at least two weeks to get it on a truck headed west. After being told the truck was in Oklahoma City (approx halfway), it took them another 2 weeks to actually deliver. This put them 2 days after their max 21 business days allowed. In addition, they told us we had 1200lbs extra what the estimate was (highly unlikely – we do not have particularly heavy furniture, etc) so the cost we were going to owe them $1300 more than anticipated at delivery. Almost new furniture was BADLY damaged, boxes were completely crushed – boxes marked “fragile” and “very fragile” containing crystal glassware and good dishes. Even the driver (a subcontractor) told us that he hates doing moves for these guys because people constantly yell at him/don’t tip him because of the terrible service they received.Do not let Budget Van Lines contract your move to Five Star Relocation!
