When my family moved to Chicago last year, we moved ourselves. It took a 17' truck to get all our stuff up there. I packed for what seemed like years. My husband drove the truck and I drove our car. I was not happy about any of this.
When it came time to move back to North Carolina, I was determined not to go through the hassle of another do-it-ourselves move. It would be worth any amount of money in the world not to have to deal with packing, especially packing the kitchen! So I called around. I had 3 different estimates. We decided to get quotes from Best Price Moving, American Pro Moving & Chicago Moving Systems
First of all, the person who came to do the estimate was great. He was very understanding and took the time to explain all the things that would occur with the move, without making me feel like an idiot. He also, at my request, dropped off some various sizes of boxes in case I had the urge to pack some things myself. (I did, and it saved us about $300.)
When moving day rolled around, the crew was on time and very courteous. They were super-efficient and fast, yet also very careful with our stuff. Our couch and love seat were both shrink-wrapped, and our pillows boxed. Our other tables, headboards, etc. were quilt-wrapped. There was a great deal of attention to detail paid by the movers. By mid-day, the house was empty and our stuff was out of there!
Our belongings arrived about a week later, and on time. Our belongings arrived safe and sound with no damage at all. We paid the gentlemen and the transaction was complete...or so we thought.
A few weeks later, we received a check for a refund as we had slightly overpaid (about $96.) From past experience, a lot of companies might not even notify you if you overpay anything! So not only did we receive a very competitive initial price, but got a little money back.
My family will be moving again in because of this recession. I was very pleased with our Best Price and hope to use them again.
