Got a tip about this Gaithersburg company, currently unlicensed to perform interstate (or even within MD because MD requires an MC license for in-state moves) moves. They're operated out of a residence, and further investigation shows that the owner, Anna, has experience running a business, just not a moving company.
Their FMCSA report shows they applied for their license this past June, but the application was suspended, probably because their insurance policies just took effect on the 13th and 14th of October. They may be granted the license soon, but as of yet, they should NOT be soliciting business.
They've begun peppering www.moverreviews.com with positive stories, all either faked or describing illegal moves. Suzie Stewart wrote on 10/27/09 that she moved from IL to CA last month, with Mari as a contact. Sarah Johnson wrote on 10/16/09 that she used Best Choice for a move from MD to DC (remember the MD license talk above?) with Anna Ivgi and Sandra Madalsi as contacts. Anna Ivgi is listed as the owner. Ivgi is not the name used on the company's website registration, but since Anna has another business under her real last name I'll decline to post it. They also falsely claim BBB affiliation.
True, so far this company has not, to my knowledge, actually moved anyone illegally, but to be soliciting without a license and writing your own faked reviews shows a complete lack of ethics. Not an example of, to quote Sarah's review, an "Honest, Excellent Mover".
