If you don't have time to read this entire review, know this. I have moved 8 times in 8 years and used several moving companies. BR Movers with their unprofessional workers, hidden fee's, and horrible customer service was BY FAR the worst I have experienced. Their workers are confrontational and argumentative and will not respect you or your family.
Details:
The moving team was supposed to show up between 8-10am. They called me at 10:30 to let me know they were running late after I called their main office twice asking where they were. When they got there at 10:45 they offered no apologies or explanations.
Although I was quoted for 3 movers they brought 4 and I was told that if I didn't agree to use the 4th man (and pay an additional rate) they would not finish my move anywhere near the time quoted.
Although I gave Jennifer a full list of all of my items, she neglected to tell me that her company would not move my mattresses & box springs unless they were in plastic moving bags and they would not move my mirrors unless I purchased their special moving boxes (additional cost $180). I called her during the move to complain and she said that she would handle it and I wouldn't be charged. I never heard from her again, and was forced to either buy their mattress bags or find another way to move my items since "they would not be going on this truck."
The onsite supervisor Buddy argued constantly with my wife and me over EVERYTHING. He got in my face and yelled at me when I refused to buy their supplies. Buddy knew my wife and I couldn't afford to reschedule our move and he threatened to "shut down the move" several times and at one point stopped his team from working for 15 minutes (time that I was told would not be billed to me). I called their corporate office several times to discuss these additional mattress charges and Buddy's horrible behavior but little was done. I still had to buy 3 mattress covers but was given one for free.
We were moving from a 4th floor apartment with no elevator, and moving to a 1st floor condo. It took 2.5 hours for the team to wrap our items and load the truck (including the 15 minute "shut down").
Once at my new 1st floor apartment, Buddy estimated the move-in time to also take 2.5 hours. BR Movers policy requires payment before the team unloads, but I was told if it took less time I would be credited. It was obvious that if it took 2.5 hours to carry everything down 4 flights and carefully load it on a truck, it should take less time to unload into the 1st floor condo and just drop in a room (I didn't have them set-up anything).
What I hadn't realized is that Buddy would be the only one allowed on the truck during unloading. He purposely went slow and there was ALWAYS at least one worker doing nothing during the unload process - just waiting for Buddy to bring him something.
Even with Buddy slowing it down, the unload only took 2 hours but Buddy refused to credit my back my 1/2 hr of overcharged labor. He also refused to credit the 15 minutes of time that he stopped everyone from working. We again loudly argued about this (probably our 8th argument of the day) and it ended with Buddy screaming and cursing me in the middle of the street - telling me to "GO F*CK MYSELF," cursing out my wife, and saying that he was the owner of the company so it wouldn't do any good to complain.
It took about a week and several e-mails with BR Movers and Ron Biton (I think the real owner) but I was eventually credited for the 30 minutes of time that I was over charged. There was never anything done about Buddy's behavior throughout the day and his outbursts at the end of the day were chalked up to human nature in response to our arguments.
As you can see, this company is beyond horrible. There were several other things I could complain about in detail (workers using cell-phones constantly, Buddy never did any physical labor during the loading process, workers couldn't figure out how to get large items into some rooms - although my wife and I could in a matter of seconds, etc.), but I think this is long enough.
Just know that this company will give you a great estimate, but will then strong-arm you into additional fee's & additional workers. The sales people are very nice, but once moving day comes they disappear and you are left with a group that will use any leverage they can to exploit you. Workers have no respect for you or your family and will act as if they are doing you a favor by moving your stuff. Management seems to be okay with this as they protect their own over protecting their customers. This move happened in November and it still makes me upset - I won't ever let anyone I know use this company.
