They tried to scam us!!!
1.) They came late in the day and started loading. In the process, try to sell you as much packing materials as possible to add to the moving cost. (At least we knew about this and had our own materials ready)
2.) When they arrived, there was a small load on the truck already and a huge mountain of blankets and packing materials. Because they came late and finished late, we didn't have time to go the the scale to check the weight, because they said it was too late and it would be closed.
3.) They were going to leave Richmond CA that night to take the load to LA and if they find an open scale on the way, they would get the loaded weight and send that to us.
4.) In reality, they dropped our things off 1 mile from where they picked up in a public storage and had another transport company pick it up there and deliver to us.
5.) We made arrangements to have the weight re-checked before the new company delivered and found that we were over charged by 1000 pounds! t now looks like they used the empty truck weight and not that with the previously loaded goods to calculate our weight.
6.) Also, the rate of the estimate, suddenly went up for the weight that was added over and above the estimated weight.
Bottom line, most of these companies are scammers! B & B as well as the company who contracted them (Duntara moving & storage) should be avoided. The moving company who delivered (Remington moving & storage) was excellent!
