We have moved often enough that we decided to very carefully screen movers prior to selecting one. Based upon online reviews and Better Business Bureau information, we had four agents come in to provide quotes. From those quotes we selected Ace Relocation Services out of Long Beach, California who are agents for Atlas Van Lines.
We self packed our boxes and were very pleased when Ace provided us with a large number of used boxes to pack up our material. They even came to pick up the extra boxes we didn't use.
The movers and the crew showed up exactly on time in California and worked efficiently and carefully to load our belongings. The Atlas driver was a long time veteran who supervised the loaders although they too were experienced.
A different but equally capable crew was available in Iowa and agreeably put the boxes and furniture in the rooms we designated and reassembled beds.
While this was not the cheapest quote provided, we were pleased with the level of service that included agent Anna Armstrong showing up on the day of the move to make sure everything was going well.
I think at least some of our satisfaction was due to our carefully reviewing movers, asking questions and being involved in move (i.e., doing our own packing).
During the course of the move I had the phone numbers of the agent and driver so I could get questions answered anytime necessary.
Moving is both expensive and stressful so do your research, think carefully about what you move (cull down as much as you can) and stay involved.
