Around The State Moving and Storage is very easy to deal with initially. An estimator promises a pickup and delivery date and walks you through a furniture list on the phone and gives you tempting price estimate.
The first sign of trouble comes when you get the contract, you'll notice that the delivery date has been changed from the date you were quoted on the phone to a range of about 1 week (this is after you've paid a deposit with your credit card).
The second sign of trouble is that they are supposed to call 24-48 hours before the pickup date and they don't. I had to call to ask about the pickup date and was told they would pick up my stuff four days after the originally promised date, which caused me to have to change all the disconnect and connect dates I had carefully set up on both ends.
Finally the movers arrived after 4 days. They were nice people but quite amateurs when it comes to work. They did not have their own equipment and seems they had just been hired off the street an hour before pick up. It was exactly the same scenario on the delivery side. They delivered it so late, at three times the original quoted cost and the rest never arrived. Most of the things that did arrive were broken, including many items that had been in the family for over 100 years. A 100 year old bed is missing the slats, a 100 year old hutch had 5 pieces broken off, 6 lamps were destroyed beyond repair, antique table was broken in 3 places, a massive leather arm chair that was my granddad's had an arm that was practically falling off, and a guitar that my mom had bought when she was 17. It was in a hard case and was smashed beyond repair. The furniture was clearly mishandled, stacked carelessly and ruined. There is too much to even list
To sum it up in one sentence, I would say Around The State Moving and Storage will promise you the moon and not deliver anything and still try to charge you.
