1. nice sales pitch - intentionally deceptive (as confirmed by the movers that showed up too late & too tired to move anything)
2. I filled out many pages of online forms describing the items to be moved, flights of stairs involved, etc.
3. I confirmed with sales girl multiple times that 2 hours with 2 men from the 3rd floor was sufficient for furniture only. She reassured me that I don't have much to move & there was nothing to worry about.
4. I chose an arrival window of 10am - 3pm. A little after 3pm, I called & was told the previous move was taking longer than expected & the truck broke down.
5. Around 5:30pm, I called again & the supervisor would not even let me talk. He kept repeating that he can't have someone show up right away. I told him I was not expecting that, but would have appreciated a courtesy call to inform me of the delay. I would think I could be reasonable after hearing the truck broke down. However, he informed me that asking the movers to estimate an arrival time would further delay their progress. In my opinion, if they're going to be hours late, they can easily take 2 minutes to make a call.
6. The supervisor then raved about how the movers have been working in 90 degree heat since the morning. To me, that begs the question of why they booked too many clients. He completely blew me off without any courtesy & told me I could continue to wait or cancel the service.
7. Finally the "movers" showed up at 8:45pm. They were a skinny middle-age guy & a small boy who almost looked too young to be working. Furthermore, the boy didn't speak English, so I told the other guy we were not going to move that evening. He agreed that was a good idea & there was no way they were going to finish, especially as exhausted as they were and without causing damage with the boy. They also said they already had a damage earlier in the day.
8. Next the mover told me I was never even on his list & that they he was assigned to move me when he returned to dispatch. He confirmed that he deals with upset customers frequently when he works for Apt Movers & that the sales people will say whatever to mislead the customer in order to confirm an appointment. The sales people then let the movers to deal with their mess.
9. He also confirmed there were many complaints about the same evening supervisor at the dispatch center that I spoke to earlier.
10. After sending them away, I cancelled the order. The next day my boyfriend & his brother did the job.
