The Apartment Movers scheduled to move me between 3:00 and 8:00pm. I received a call from them at 4:00pm stating that they would arrive between 6:00 and 7:00pm. At 7:30pm when they still hadn’t shown up, I tried calling them several times with no answer. Finally at 8:30pm they called and said they couldn’t make it until midnight! This wouldn’t work for me, so they said that I would be their first customer in the morning at 7:30am. A manager named Brett in Dallas reluctantly agreed to give me a $20.00 cash back discount for my trouble since I had already made out a money order to The Apartment Movers. He told me he would make sure the movers were notified.
I took off work and waited for them at 7:30am. They didn’t show up until 10:00am. When they finished, I asked for the $20.00 change per my conversation with Brett of the Dallas office the night before. The mover said they had no knowledge of the $20 discount, so he called The Apartment Movers Houston office and asked Pete, the manager if he knew about the discount. Pete, on speaker phone, angrily said he didn’t know about the discount, and called to check. He finally got the correct information and told the movers to give me my $20 change as agreed upon. When the mover said he didn’t have the money to give me, Pete, now speaking very rudely, wanted me to come to the office and pick up the money. When I refused to do so, He became enraged and began yelling and said, “Tell that fu**ing bitch if she wants her money, she can come down here and get it.”, not realizing he was on speaker phone. He even suggested that the movers just leave if they already had the money order. Fortunately, they did not have it, but Pete told the mover to get it from me. As the mover approached me to take my money away from me, I yelled at him to stop and immediately called my boyfriend for help. The man stopped, realizing what he was essentially doing and tried to calm me down. He finally gave me my change.
This was the most inconvenient and traumatic moving experience I have ever had. The Apartment Movers staff acted completely unprofessionally, with their poor customer service, consistently late arrival times, lack of communication within the company, disrespect, use of profanity, and willingness to break a verbal contract with a customer. I would never recommend The Apartment Movers to anyone.
