I would first say that our things arrived in perfect condition- nothing was broken or stolen. Ultimately that is the most important thing. However, there were a few glitches in the move that were somewhat unprofessional.
We were picked up 2 days AFTER the movers had been telling us they would arrive for our things. America's Moving Services assured us that the driver coming for our things was a fabulous mover, so we opted to accept the late pickup and stay with him rather than have AMS find another crew (which they graciously offered to do). Well, apparently the driver is also a fabulous golfer. 5 days after pickup, we received a frantic call from the mover stating that we immediately needed to fax a "gypsy moth certification form" to the state of California, because they weren't allowing our belongings to come into the state. When we asked why our things had driven PAST Arizona to California, we discovered that the driver was going to a golf tournament for three days. We had just arrived in our new city and didn't know where to fax something- plus, we have no clue about gypsy moths and never had heard about such a form. We hastily scrambled to invent a statement about gypsy moths and found a place where we could fax.
Essentially, our belongings were delayed for three days because the driver took a vacation. We recognize that there is a 14 day delivery window for our things to arrive, but find this aspect of the move to be unprofessional. Again, our things arrived safe and intact, and that is the most important thing.
