I'm grateful that almost all of my stuff arrived in a timely manner and I wasn't required to drive a U-Haul through the snow. There ends my gratitude.
The truck driver picked up the stuff a day early (thankfully we we were flexible) and called us a day early to deliver it. That would've been acceptable XXXexcept a day early was Sunday and it's rather difficult to find a bank that hands out $2,500 on a Sunday (my ATM has a $500/day limit). My plan had been to go to the bank Monday morning & pick up the money before he arrived (I didn't want to be carrying around that much cash) - so I was a bit stressed trying to track down a cash-cow.
Turns out he couldn't make it Sunday night after all. He didn't bother calling to tell me- I had to call him to find out where he was.
When he finally arrived he was alone so an hour was wasted tracking down a local mover on his day off who would help. The driver proceeded to unload everything at the bottom of the stairs for the local gentleman to carry up. I had agreed to 3 flights of stairs XXXour 30 stairs were 9 too many for their pre-defined '3-flights' of 21. Oh- and though our doorway was 75ft from the truck, he didn't like walking the stuff across the grass so there was an extra fee for that. I certainly hope the fee for the extra stairs when to the guy who walked them w/ our 90+ boxes.
There were a few items scuffed & a questionable white paste splattered over the crib & bed frames XXXand a few items I've yet to track down.
The extra fees are frustrating. The pressure of trying to find money on a Sunday (that I didn't need to have yet anyways) was stressful.
Although non of this was done by AVL's employees, I do feel they need to be held responsible for the drivers to whom they subcontract the actual work.
