Overall I was very pleased with my experience. Although I was given a slightly higher quote than I found with other moving companies (total move = approx. 250 miles), I chose AMS for their customer service. Michael was patient and helpful when speaking with me on the phone and helping to arrange my move.
The movers themselves, Anthony and Avis, were prompt and professional. They showed up for pickup and delivery within an hour of expected arrival, and finished both jobs quickly. None of my furniture was lost or damaged. An example of additional exceptional customer service: I was sharing a storage unit with someone else during pickup, and the guys grabbed her bedframe along with mine by accident. They offered to take the frame back to the storage unit so I wouldn't have to ship/transfer it myself. I really appreciated this extra effort.
The only disadvantage I can think of has to do with estimating the weight of my stuff. I don't have much of a concept of what furniture weighs, so I did my best to describe my things to AMS in order to go with either the 2000 lb. limit or 1500 lb. limit. We decided on the 2000, but my stuff only ended up weighing 1560. Because 2000 is the lb minimum, I had to pay the full amount budgeted. So, it would have been nice to have saved a couple hundred bucks if there was a better estimation system in place, but having my stuff moved quickly and safely was worth it. I would use AMS again in the future.
