American is simply a broker service. After they partnered me with "J&P Moving" - things went swiftly downhill. Sure my stuff was packed and moved and only a few things were broken and stolen*, but the customer service: both AMS and J&P followed the same pattern XXXnice pleasant and accommodating before pickup and difficult, unresponsive, and shifty when they were holding my possessions hostage. I would not retain their services again and recommend others take a serious second look. *=neither company has been responsive about the items they stole or damaged
