Let me first say, that I have had experience moving myself and dealing with moving companies. I have moved from VA to UT, from UT to VA, from VA to MD, from MD to OK and from OK to PA over the last fifteen years or so. This is by far the worst move I have ever experience (all the other moves went without a hitch and little to no damage to goods). I had to keep asking questions with American Movers Group customer service over the quote until I finally got the bottom line price. It was like American Movers Group was trying to hide costs for a surprise at the end. I did pack myself...I have always done all or most of the packing for all of our moves. The two people who picked up our household in Tulsa, OK we very pleasant and were extremely careful handling our personal items. When the truck arrived at our storage unit in PA and the driver opened the truck up, I has horrified. Everything was topsy turvy. The wardrobe box was even crushed down to half its size. My Kitchenaid mixer (almost brand new) was completely out of the box (I wrapped the mixer in numerous layers of newspaper and lined the box with bubble wrap and stuffed paper in the box to keep the mixer from moving around. It was the only item in that box. Needless to say, the mixer his badly scratched...even the stainless steel bowl. I have had breakage in every box that I have opened...a $80 cake plate, a clay figurine from a museum in Mexico, crystal pitchers, ceramic pitchers, dishes, glasses and so on. A cabinet (average size and not heavy), was completely broken. A steel file cabinet...not a HON, but a very good one...has a bent frame. I paid American Movers Group $1350 for the self-pack move...and it's going to cost me another $1000+ just to replace the items that have been destroyed. A day or so after the truck was unpacked in PA, I sent an email with photos to Khrystyna at American Movers Group. That was 3 1/2 months ago, and I have not received a reply of any kind. Since my move included things going into storage for several months, I was concerned about filing a claim for losses...American Movers Group (Khrystyna) assured me that it would not be a problem. I am going to file a complain against them with the Better Business Bureau, but I wanted to post this information online so that others will not TO BE AWARE!!! This company will end up costing you a lot more than money...broken items that can't be replaced...and they won't care one way or another...they strictly work on the premise of getting you money and moving on to the next victim!!!!!
