Everything seemed great until they took my deposit- after that it was all downhill.
They didn't arrive on the day that they said, and then called us to inform us that they would be there 9am the next morning. 9 am comes and no one is there. 10 am and we start calling trying to just get an update. No one answered the primary phone line after we gave the down payment. I was finally able to get a hold of Chris after going through all the numbers in my call history and finding the one he called me at. He informed me that our driver was hector and he was running late but that he should be calling us from the weight station soon and that he should be there by noon.
Hector called us 12:30 to tell us that he was an hour away and we asked if he was going to be the one delivering our belongings and if he anticipated any lateness associated recieving. Hector nicely explained that he was not going to be delivering our belongings and that he was just transferring it to another area at which point it would be unloaded and then reloaded into a truck with lots of other peoples stuff. Had this been explained to us before- I would have been much more understanding.
We tried calling chris again several times and he never once answered- not a good sign when you are handing over all your worldly possessions and a couple grand. We called the corporate number- no answer.... Niether number had professional voicemail either- just a recording saying the the number is unavailable.
Next we looked again at our quote and deposit receipt and our bank statements. Oddly, the transaction that took my deposit was from "Northern Van Lines" not Alliance. Unfortunately, Northern Van Lines has some pretty terrible reviews that sounds remarkably similar to our experience.
At this point we were frustrated annoyed that no one was answering our calls, we felt misled and a bit weary that another moving company had gotten our deposit, and not the company that was advertised to us.
We called Hector, thankfully he answered the phone, and explained to him that we weren't happy with the service that we have been recieving and that we weren't comfortable handing our stuff over. He was very nice and polite and said that he would try contacting the corporate office and Chris.
Suddenly, both lines called at the exact same time. I put one on hold and told him that I was on the other line with Chris and who he wanted me to talk to. He said "well you are talking to me" and I said "well the other line called first" and he said "fine talk to him- I'll talk to you later"
Chris was very disgruntled.... His job would be much easier if he would just offer more reassuring customer service.
Bottom line we were impressed by the website and what they promise but they seem to not follow through or care about the customers after they get the deposit. I have a bad feeling about them.
