We booked the movers 2 weeks in advance to move on Saturday 2/26/11. I informed them we were moving into a high-rise condo and we have to reserve an elevator. We had it from 12noon - 6pm and the move MUST be completed by 6pm. On Friday 2/25/11, Walter called and confirmed the move. He said he was recording the conversation, we were fine with this. He said they would leave their business at 8am and be there before 9am and we have to pay for that hour of traveling time. We confirmed everything. On Saturday morning (the next day) they were not there at 9:15am. I called and spoke with Shawn (who I originally booked with), he said we were scheduled for a noon pickup. I flipped out. He said "all of the trucks are out and we just have to wait". I called 3 more times and that is the only response I could get from them. They did not seem to care that I had a deadline and told me if they did not finish by 6pm, they would have to leave my stuff on the truck for a $500 a day fee. When the men finally came at 11:15am, they looked around the house and said we have too much stuff for the truck and they would not finish by 6pm. I confirmed with Shawn 2 times that the truck would be big enough. After they went back and sat in their truck for over 15 minutes trying to decide what to do, we told them to start loading the truck since they are already on our time. Diring this time Walter called back and proceeded to play a recording of a person that sounded absoutly nothing like me claiming it was me saying a noon move was fine. We ended up having to physically put all of our stuff out in the driveway so they could load it on the truck because we were now almost 2 hours late. We ended up having to leave a bunch of stuff at the house (enough to fill a single car garage) because they did not have the time to move it. When we got to the condo, they dropped everything in the elevator lobby and we had to move it down the hall and into the condo. Never in my life have I had to "help" a mover let alone do over half the moving myself. I am still trying to figure out exactly what I paid for since it would have been a heck of a lot cheaper to get a U-Haul.
