We had just a small quantity of items in a storage facility (Two 5 by 10 storage units both only partially full) that we needed moved to an apartment in the same town. We were quoted a price of 300.00. First, the movers were 2.25 hours later than we were originally told. Second, the mover hit a post with the truck in the storage facilities parking lot. Then one of the men started working, while the other had me sign forms, which I didn't like doing until we were finished and I said so. "But they have to do it this way." Then the one who had my sign the forms preceded to make several phone calls before he started helping the other guy. The one man seemed very slow to me. Then the movers had not looked up a route to my apartment. There is only one road to my apartment and two different routes, and they were afraid to drive down the road. They stopped and said the truck couldn't go down the road from the closer direction, and so we took an extra fifteen minutes to go around the city to the other direction. Then they stopped, and were afraid to go down the road in that direction to. I believe the moving company should check for possible problems on getting to the locations ahead of time and not waste 20 minutes being scared to drive the truck down smaller roads. Then they wanted payment before unloading. The payment was for 565 dollars, which is much greater than the price we were quoted. Supposedly they have a mandatory 5 hour charge, which if that was the case no quote under 5 hours of time should ever be given. So I paid it, even though I was protesting. I think, because my husband and I were upset at the price being almost twice as much as we were quoted, they worked as slowly as they could to annoy us further. The job was supposed to start at 2:30 and be finished around 4:30, it was not started till 4:45 and didn't finished until 8:15. The price was about twice the quoted price. The driver seemed very incompetent.
