We did read reviews before hiring, unfortunately we didn't read look in the right places.
I don't know why All My Sons would even think about sending us a survey to complete when they did not see fit to return our numerous telephone calls inquiring about our damaged and missing items. Rather than completing the survey, I sent them an email. This is a cut and paste of our email to this company:
"We have moved numerous times throughout the years, using both large moving companies, as well as smaller companies. To say we were disappointed with our move is an understatement. I telephoned the South Carolina office and attempted to speak to our representative on a few occasions, but he never called me back.
The long and short of it is that nearly every single piece of furniture was damaged in one form or another...deep gouges, scratches, broken off portions. There had clearly been attempts to jimmy our safe. And last, but not least...some of our items were missing, i.e. stolen or delivered to a different homeowner. Just the other day, we went to the shed to pull out our wind chimes (quite expensive wind chimes that we purchased while on vacation before our move) and they can be found nowhere. That means an entire box is missing; we can't even remember what else was in the box. We discussed that it occurred to us after the fact that every other mover we had ever dealt with had us stand at the door and check off each numbered item as it came in the door. That did not happen with that move and explains how so much of our stuff went missing with us not realizing it until a little at a time as we went to get this item or that and realized it didn't make it from one place to another.
It was a snowy day and we had to ask them to put down something to cover our carpet. They had every intention of carrying in furniture without an effort to protect the carpet. Even after we asked, they put down one strip and we were required to make it clear that we would like as much of the carpet as possible covered. We had a small storage unit near the garage. They just tossed boxes in there. I say "tossed" because they were not stacked; some boxes clearly marked with an arrow pointing upwards were place upside down or sideways.
We did get insurance for our belongings, but only to cover a catastrophic event...little did we know the entire move would be catastrophic. Since there was a $250 deductible per item, we weren't willing to fork out $250 for the numerous items that needed repaired or replaced. (Nice scam to give your customers a false sense of security.) Therefore, much of our items were damaged and are now placed throughout residence with gouges and scratches that we have tried to cover, but serve as a daily reminder of how little regard your movers took for our personal belongings. It was very quite disheartening.
If you are the company that received the best reviews in the Hilton Head, South Carolina area, I shudder to think what the worst delivery company could be like.
Leaving my review at every moving site there is remains on my "to do" list; I came across this when notifying of email change of addresses. I don't doubt for a minute that I will hear nothing from you and will chalk this up as a lesson learned."
As I suspected would be the case, I did not receive a response. I would say if you hire this company, you are doing so at your own peril.
