I called the 800 number to book a last minute move because my previous movers already booked my time slot. I was in a ind and they knew it. The woman who answered the phone and took my "order" was very matter of fact and rushed through the order. She said that they did have availability for one of the four days I wanted to move but it would be $209/hr since it is late notice. I asked if I could call my boyfriend to verify that we should book it. When I called back to give my credit card for the deposit another sales person answered as my original representative was away from her desk. He took my credit card information and asked if I needed anything else. My boyfriend had reminded me to ask them when the clock starts. He stated upon arrival at your home.
Three days prior to the move I received a call from the local mover to confirm all of my details. He stated that there was an hour travel time. I asked for clarification as I was told we were not going to be charged for it. He said that they 800 number would never have told me that because they read from a script. I asked to speak with the original people that I had spoke with and asked if they recorded their calls. He said he would call them to get their side of the story and hung up on me. After calling back he stated that they never said that and he would not remove the travel charge because that is how he pays his movers. I asked about the extreme rate I was paying and said I didn't feel that I should have to pay the extra hour at $209. He said that he was doing me a favor. I told him that I will dispute the credit card charges based on the recorded conversation that I had and I would not have enough money for tip. He screamed at me and said he would not send his movers to a disgruntled customer and is thinking of canceling the move and hung up on me again. Needless to say, I canceled the move and will NEVER recommend these jerks to anyone.
