I hired American van lines for a move from Ny to Ohio. The guys were great . Came in time. The boys were great . very enthusiastic . Took care of the moving and packing. Did a great job.
I could not evaluate the weight myself. But they gave me a good rate for what i thought was an accurate weight. Charged me 50 cent a pound- flat rate. I had to delay the delivery because my house was not ready. They stored the stuff for a period of nearly 2 weeks without any storage charges. ( I do not know if they would have delayed it themselves since it was a busy season- July). I though that was very nice . I received my stuff within a week of my house being ready. The movers delivering the stuff were from an Illinois company- but that I guess it is a common thing among smaller companies. There was no discussion on the amount to the last dollar. The amount they quoted was the amount I paid. They guys delivering the stuff were also very professional and courteous. I did not have any damages( also i think i took a lot of care packing these myself with a lot of bubble wrap and shredded paper etc)My sofa and furniture came well covered. They were not dusty or anything from the storage.
Overall i was very happy with them and I ll probably engage them in the future if i need them. And i think I saved a grand by not going with some of the bigger names that had quoted after inspecting my stuff.
