The PLAN:
I had set up my move with UPACK 2 weeks in advance from Philadelphia to Tallahassee. They told me that my container would arrive on a Wednesday and would be picked up Friday afternoon, and delivered to Florida the following Thursday, which turned out to be great because I started my first day of work at a new job that Friday.
What Actually Occurred:
The container actually arrived on Wednesday in the window they specified. Awesome!!
What pissed me off: After I loaded the container, I called them Friday to confirm the time they were picking it up. The woman on the phone told me that since I didn't call them 24 hrs before the pick up, she had taken my name off the list for pickups. What? Why should I have called 24 hrs prior to a pick up if it was already scheduled 2 weeks ago?? She made it turn out to be my own fault and told me the container would be picked up on Monday "first thing in the morning". Well, I had to already start my drive down to Florida, so I wound up leaving my container (2 padlocks) on the block. My neighbors called me when the company finally picked it up on Monday.... at 6:30pm.
Result: I got my cube late, which forced me to take time off from my new job (a fantastic first impression) in order to be there to sign off for the delivery. Oh, btw, when I took time off of work to be there to sign for the cube, the delivery guy showed up... with an empty truck bed. He was under the impression he was there for a PICK UP and not a DELIVERY. So I had to leave work early AGAIN for when he came back to deliver the container! After the unloading was done (the unloading company was actually okay) I called up UPACK and they picked up their container straightaway - probably to piss off their next victim.
Price-wise, this company isn't great, but it's not bad either. Just remember that you get what you pay for. There's a reason why it's cheaper. If you don't care when you get your stuff picked up, and you don't care when you get it back, then sure, go for this company. But keep in mind with those circumstances, that's all of your belongings behind 2 pad locks out on the open street.
