I recently hired Budget Van Lines to move my possessions from MN to NY. Budget contracted the job out to A Topps. Fortunately I have now received all of my stuff and, so far, nothing appears to be lost or badly damaged. However, the whole experience was a nightmare from start to finish. The crew arrived for the pick-up a day early and complained when no one was there to let them in. They then delivered a day late without any notice. Eric told me on the morning of the supposed delivery that they would not be coming until the next day. This was when I had already taken a day off work. He refused to apologize and laughed off my suggestion that some compensation was in order. Eric is possibly the rudest person I have ever dealt with, and his colleague, Sandra, is not much better. When the crew did arrive I was told by the foreman that the recommended tip was 10-20%. This was before they had even begun unloading! Not only is this is a ridiculous amount for a cross-country move, but it's also highly inappropriate to ASK for a tip in any case. He was then surly and uncommunicative throughout the move and only grudgingly helped me assemble the bed (even though furniture assembly was supposed to be included). When I did give them what I felt was a very fair tip, he complained that it wasn't enough. All in all, A Topps are a very unprofessional company with very poor customer service. I would definitely not recommend them.
