Melissa Mooney is a very good customer service rep. While her title is director of sales, she is young and refers all questions up the line of management ultimately to Horan Golan. I was quoted several times on a move from San Jose, CA to Denver, CO.
Ultimately, while we had several quotations for less money, the firm had my signature on a quotation for more money. Lesson 1: On the day of the move NEVER sign a mover’s BILL OF LADING until you have a final price.
Lesson 2: NEVER contract with a mover for a “guaranteed price” that allows additional items to be added at a much higher fee structure. We started with a $2938 quote that was guaranteed. Had we not gone over the cubic foot amount allotted, we would have been perfectly safe and the quote would have stood.
Unfortunately, no one can accurately measure a two bedroom apartment’s cubic foot volume; we had an overage that amounted to 1/7 the load. You might think that you would pay 1/7th the quote extra or less. NO. We were then asked for 40% more ($4083 in total) for the extra items moving even though we had another quote (we did not sign) for $3100, that would have included the overage (cubic feet) and a bit more.
After a protracted argument, and the threat of a law suit, the firm (Horan Golan) agreed to a delivered price of $3883, if they would get the load to us in 13 days. Unfortunately, they missed the mark by one day. Now, I know what you are thinking, - that’s not bad! Ah, but it is when you are leaving the country for a vacation on that very day they wish to make the delivery one day late. And, they knew we were going on vacation, the bill of lading and all quotes had the information and a specific due date they missed.
This firm is okay, but – there are better movers.
