DO NOT use STI movers. They pulled a bait-and-switch on me. Max called me and told me that although the company normally charged $105 per hour, he could offer me a flat rate of $262.50 for a local move between 2 and 4 hours. This is the primary reason why I chose STI to move me.
I signed a form that contained the quote for $262.50, and it also stated that the normal hourly rate is $105. The movers were late arriving, and at the end of the move I was charged the hourly rate for a total of $403.75. I was told to call the company on Monday and straighten the problem out.
When I spoke to Max on Monday he claimed that he never quoted me a flat rate. He passed me on to a manager who said the same thing. When I referenced the form I signed, the manager stated that the hourly rate of $105 was on there. I pointed out that my flat rate of $262.50 was listed as well. The manager refused to give me any refund or financial compensation, kept telling me they never quoted me a flat rate.
This is a sneaky bait-and-switch tactic that they can probably get away with since the form I signed does contain a statement that the normal hourly rate is $105, in addition to the amount of $262.50 that I was told would be my flat rate. The bottom line is, they engage in shady business practices, don't trust them.
