I was assured over the phone when getting a quote that all my large items would be wrapped in moving blankets for free and it even says it on the quote. Reality – mover refused to move large items unless I paid $350 for him to pack them. It took him 30 min, that’s $700 an hour. 50% of the stuff he packed was broken and or damaged (nothing I packed was broken or damaged). They refuse to pay for any damages.
They tell you that your stuff will be weighed on government scales. This is not exactly true, in reality they have a scale at their facility where their employees weigh your stuff on scales that have been certified by the government. They make up an in house form with your “weight” but in reality they can just type in whatever they want. I weighed everything before the movers showed up on my bathroom scale because I wanted to know about how much I was going to have to pay and it came to 1800 lbs and change. They estimated on an email quote about 2000lbs. When they called me and told me that it weighed in at 3400 lbs I told them that they must have made a mistake and they would have to reweigh it. They agreed over the phone that they would at the destination. When they showed up to deliver my stuff (4 Days late by the way) they did not reweigh my stuff, so I called them and the manager and he told me that he told me I had to reweight it myself and if I didn’t take it now and pay the full amount I would be charged for non-delivery and they would not deliver my stuff (basically holding my stuff hostage). I work in aviation so I went to a company the next day who has government certified portable scales to weigh aircraft (which are extremely accurate) and hired them to come to my place. They weighed everything individually and made a weigh report for every item and in came in at 1906.1 lbs. I sent this to Real Canada wide moving services along with the list of damaged and lost item and have received no response.
After the fact I checked BBB and found that their membership has been revoked for many of the same reasons.
