Be aware that your primary contact is not the moving company but a telemarketer and that they don't know the policies of the moving company. The moving company (which goes by 3 different names - Pro Movers, US Relocators/Relocations and Movers US) won't necessarily back up anything they say or deal they make unless they chose to.
After agreeing to only 1 hour of transportation time for the truck (getting to/from home base), $70/hour and advising me that bubble wrap was not required only blankets and pads and that there were absolutely no other additional charges, estimating 7 hours on the contract, I paid my deposit.
The contract stated that packing materials were additional as was packing and unpacking but since I hadn't asked them to pack or unpack any boxes and had already covered bubble wrap I thought I had covered all my bases. It even states to visit their website to learn more about their prices but nowhere on their site is a list of prices. When they got to my house early, they informed me that bubble wrap was in fact required and showed me the pricing chart for tape, shrink wrap and bubble wrap. It was nearly impossible to keep track of what they used so before we left, I ask how much had been used. I was given an approx cost of $1500. I was shocked. That was nearly twice what I budgeted based on the information I had been given. BUT it was about to get better.
An hour later when we got to the new house 77 miles away, suddenly the price was over $2600! To them packing and unpacking was really wrapping and unwrapping the furniture that they had taped the blankets and pads onto and shrink wrapped or bubble wrapped over that. They refused to take any furniture off the truck until they were paid in full. It was late Sat afternoon and were on a farm. After charging 1/2 of that to my account and wiping me out completely, I called for my brother to help but while we waited they did nothing adding more hours of time to my bill. When he got there they argued about taking his the only form of payment he had to offer. They really wanted cash.
I had really hoped for a better experience. They didn't even work with me when I made my complaint. Just said it was my fault for being naive and not reading the contract properly.
