I have used professional movers many times, from coast to coast to coast. Never have I had the issues I had with this company. I have never filed a claim, and I always tip more than I should.
About a third of our items were packed very well - lots of protective paper and such, as I would expect. The rest of the stuff looks like they loaded it with a snow blower. I found a box of sensitive electronic test equipment, with glass windows lying at the bottom of a box with my lead weights for my scuba weight belt lying DIRECTLY ON TOP of the testers, with nothing between them.
I am a handyman around my house, and had boxes of left over nails, screws, and such. This were left open and thrown in a box, along with the contects of other hardware pieces that were in cabinents. Now it's just a jumble of hardware.
My desk comes apart in 3 pieces - rather than unbolting it, it was just pried apart.
We were selling the house and agreed to leave the washer, dryer, and swimming pool gear behind. This was stressed with the estimators, and labeled "Do not move". Needless to say, it was moved with the rest of the stuff, which really screwed up our listing for the house. My list of complaints goes on and on.
I contact National on 2 occasions to complain. All I wanted was an apology - instead I got claim forms - "how much did you pay for the box of nails/" how much did the lead weights weigh?" I never filed the claim - I could see that, as frustrated as I was, the claim form would settle nothing. I glued stuff back together, refinished scrapes, bought a new washer/dryer, swimming pool cover and filter hatch, etc and got on with my life.
I WILL NEVER USE NATIONAL AGAIN, NOR WILL I USE THEM TO MOVE ANY OF MY EMPLOYEES. The local group was a husband and wife team who pretended to by nice, then took off their masks when we signed.
